The Rest Between Sets

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

fitnessI have been talking recently about the rest time between sets when performing workouts bodybuilding. There have been appropriate guidelines for resistance training, hypertrophy, strength and power.

But all is not as mathematical variations. One is that the recovery also depends on the type of muscle action performed. There are exercises in which besides the main action, there are muscles that help form isometric. It becomes extremely important in strength training and power to be their work more intensively than the training of hypertrophy and resistance.

An isometric contraction is one in which the muscle contracts but does not produce movement. When we perform a biceps curl, the rise of the weight is the concentric phase, and the descent is the eccentric phase. But if you hold the dumbbell halfway through, but do not move, the muscle is contracted by equating the force of gravity so that the dumbbell will not fall. This type of contraction is called isometric contraction. (more…)

fitness tipsThe warm weather and the abdominal
Spring is here! Many people come this time of year are at the gym. They know that in time we will bring the best version in the coming months and want to be ready when the time comes to start taking off layers of clothing.
To many, we want to be like the photo, but it is difficult to achieve in a few weeks rather impossible!

1. Balanced diet along ALL YEAR!

2. Regular physical activity.

There are many who insist on the “chocolate bar” and make it swell to thousands of crunches a day, getting only a more rounded belly. The muscle definition has nothing to do with muscle bulk. So much do you try to tone up or increase your muscle volume are not going to make them look more. (more…)

The Major Principles of Training

Friday, March 26th, 2010

fitness tipsThat’s why many, knowingly or not, we rested on the pool regularly. The great feeling it gives us are the best reward of coaching. But the pool each day is more, especially from the perspective of management, as a multipurpose space with many more possibilities than just swimming.

Swimming is fine, especially when we have a good command of the medium. But what about all those people who have not had enough learning to swim does not lead to consequences rather than benefits?

For starters, technical exercises should always be present at any training routine. Ideal after heating to avoid injury and improve mechanical efficiency. There will always be a lifeguard who can lend support to this exercise and you can gradually building up a good battery of exercises. (more…)

Fitness Equipment

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Fitness and HealthToday, I will introduce the posts that I publish the next dates. These are issues that particularly as a coach, at times, and user, in others, disturb me and I would love to change over time. After much time hanging around gyms and fitness centers can say that intensity is one of the components of the load most neglected both in the fitness room as in efforts (although unfortunately not the only one …).

I have not had the luck to cross paths with a sheet of routines that specify something about the intensity. Sometimes this is the exception, in what refers to the cardio, it is done any endorsement but rare is that someone will explain to the user which means that value and how to control it. Nor have I had the pleasure of meeting or step aerobics technicians who care about the intensity of your sessions or whether they are adapted to the public of the plant or only part of it. * With the exception of that great generation Med Fitness we left. Tips In The Fitness Room

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Fitness and HealthA few months ago, I was able to train again at a large chain of fitness centers in town. I will be pleasantly surprised to see that the school leadership has decided to “give” the centers of vibration platforms to use “free” by their customers. By giving I mean that in most centers are restricted by personal trainers, and by free I mean that today is another machine, like any strength or cardio station to which we have more access through payment of our fee. This responds, in my view, to a more direction to counter the same use is given in other facilities.

However, during the course of my stay in the fitness room a couple of things caught my eye: The use was constant. A clear idea came to my head: Advertising makes miracles! (Nothing new on the other hand …). No supervision. No one was supervising the installation use. I guess the coach of the room should be in charge of this task but this did not happen … (more…)
