A very low calorie diet, like the one on the HCG diet plan, will have anyone losing weight quickly. But the problem is, the body believes it is starving, and the metabolism slows to a crawl. The body decides to hold on to all the extra fat as a survival mechanism. While this may be useful if you were actually starving, it is not helpful if you want to lose weight. This survival mechanism is a throwback to many years ago when food was in short supply during cold weather.

When a person goes on a 500 calorie a day diet without taking HCG diet drops, the body goes into starvation mode and any weight loss is likely to e muscle mass, the good fat that protects our vital organs, and maybe some excess fat. The HCG drops tell the body to boost metabolism, not slow it down. They also direct the body to burn the hard to lose excess fat, not the good fat we really need.

The HCG diet plan is like a crash diet, except you will be telling your body that there is no food shortage and you are not starving to death. This is why crash diets never worked, despite the very low calories. The body’s metabolism would drop to a low level, defeating the whole purpose of the diet.
