Fats are used by the body to manufacture hormones, lubricate joints and helps with the essential functions of the brain. If not externally adding fat to your diet in your hormone production decreases and a lot of chemical reactions stopped. Your body will then start accumulating and holding on to more body fat than usual so you have enough to maintain the operation. When testosterone production stops due to the elimination of fat, so it is building muscle. Therefore, in order to maximize muscle building, bodybuilders add your essential fats in your diet.

Types of Fats: There are three main types of fat a bodybuilder should be concerned with saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated.

* Saturated fats: These are fats that are commonly associated with heart disease and high cholesterol. There are primarily an animal, and should not be taken in excessive amounts. Bodybuilders trying to cut weight saturated fats should be avoided at all costs, while hard gainer bodybuilders who are looking to bulk up should allow a small part of their daily fat intake from saturated fats.
